Questions to ask when visiting a residence
A printable checklist about services, everyday life, fees and what happens if needs change.
Before the visit
Choose a few questions that matter most to you and decide who, if anyone, you want to join you. Ask for written service information and a sample agreement. This checklist is not a clinical assessment or a recommendation of a residence.
Look beyond the tour
Notice how you would use the entrance, bathroom, dining area and outdoor spaces. Ask whether you can see the actual accommodation being discussed. Do not assume a display room, advertised amenity or brochure shows what is included in your agreement.
After the visit
Record what you liked, what needs clarification and which answers were not provided in writing. Confirm suitability and service details directly with the provider and appropriate professionals before deciding. You do not need to make a commitment during a visit.
